Welcome to the new Heritage Policy Blog, hopefully the first of several Heritage Foundation weblogs to be hosted on this website. All of our posts here will be open to Trackbacks, which hopefully will not be inundated by spam. As well, we may open some posts to comments.
About the bloggers
Two of us are responsible for most posts here. That said, Heritage is a think tank, and so we're in constant discussion with our colleagues here, many of whom contribute significantly to our thinking and posting. For a blogger, it's a great thing to post from a building that's just stuffed with public policy experts who have, altogether, such a wide breadth of knowledge. Any mistakes here, however, are ours alone.
J. Lawrence Scholer is Editor of the Insider Magazine and a writer at the Heritage Foundation. Mr. Scholer is a former editor of the Dartmouth Review and frighteningly fluent in Latin and ancient Greek.
Andrew Grossman, also a former Dartmouth Review editor, is Senior Writer at the Heritage Foundation and editor of the heritage.org website. Until now, he has written the Policy Weblog more or less by himself. He enjoys writing in the third person and the first person plural. (And we may attempt to force this stylistic quirk on others.)
Why We're Here
As always, nothing written here is to be construed as necessarily reflecting the views of The Heritage Foundation or as an attempt to aid or hinder the passage of any bill before Congress. Seriously--that's not why we're here at all. Our goals are to enliven policy debate on the Internet, introduce other bloggers to the vast intellectual resources that Heritage offers, engage with those who hold views different from ours, and have a bit of fun. More generally, we hope to contribute to Heritage's mission: "to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense."
Resistance Is Welcome
Comments, questions? Is there a topic you'd like us to address? Please email us here. Disagree with us? Even if we don't have comments open for a post, send us a link to your response and we'll probably link it--with a sharp response, no doubt.
